It’s simple, really. And, for the most part, obvious. But just because it’s obvious doesn’t mean most people “get it” or put it into practice.

So pay attention and listen close. Because I’m about to share with you the key to motivating others.

You ready?

Here it is….

You can’t.

You can’t motivate people to do what you want. No matter how persuasive you think you are, how “right” your argument is, or how incredible your service may be.

But here’s what you can (and should) do.

You can find out what already motivates people. And then show them how to get it.

How do you do that?

Care — really and truly care — about your prospective client.

Listen to them.

Ask them questions.

Get to know them.

And pay attention to not only what they want but why they want it.

Then — only then — will you really know what motivates them. And that will give you the opportunity to create a safe, effective, high quality service/product/solution they are already motivated to use.

It’s funny, isn’t it?

The key to motivating others has literally nothing to do with persuasion or showing them what’s “right” and “wrong.”

Rather, it has everything to do with you shutting up and listening to what they have to say. Because that is the only way you’ll understand how to serve them best.

And, in the end, that’s what matters most.
